New Season Ahead

With two major international tournaments underway, Euro's and Copa America, consisting of ten first team players from Liverpool, it's easy to see why the release of the fixtures for the upcoming season has gone relatively unnoticed.

The 2021/22 EPL season will commence Saturday August 14th with games every weekend (bar the exception of those pesky international breaks) through to a conclusion on Sunday May 22nd 2022.

LFC will kick off their campaign with an away match to new EPL team Norwich City. That's two seasons in a row we play a newly promoted club on opening day. Then hopefully with the title all sewn up months beforehand we finish the season with a home game against Wolves.

Here is the complete list of our upcoming EPL fixtures

Some of the key fixtures against the original 'top six' teams to pencil into those diaries

Manchester United - October 28th (A) & March 19th (H)
Manchester City - October 2nd (H) & April 9th (A)
Chelsea - August 28th (H) & January 1st (A)
Arsenal - November 20th (H) & February 26th (A)
Spurs - December 18th (A) & May 7th (H)

Klopp likes to say there are no 'easy' games in the Premier League but you would have to admit we have a relatively 'easier' set of opening and closing fixtures compared to some of our rivals. It's imperative after such an injury ravaged 2020/21 season that our lads get off to a flyer with maximum points before the heavy schedule of the Champions League kicks in.

Another major reason the players will need to get good results in the first half of the season is because of a little tournament called AFCON which starts in January 2022 and means the loss of several key players.

Oh, I almost forgot, two other small fixtures to look forward to that will be played on November 30th, at some dog-water stadium and then the return fixture at the mighty Anfield stadium on April 23rd. This will be the glorious Red half of Merseyside versus those Blue-nose Toffees.

So fingers and everything else crossed Red army as we march into the new season with hopefully a fully fit squad which will remain that way for most of the season. Surely lightning couldn't strike twice.
