Liverpool v Spurs l Battle for the top l Live fans match thread!

After such an up and down game against Fulham we move on and welcome current equal league leaders Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield. Their self proclaimed "Special One" has already begun his usual mind games by claiming Liverpool only have one "big injury" to deal with. Purposefully neglecting to recognise the fact we could be without up to nine first team squad players.

Hopefully Klopp and the boys have gotten use to the "special" dribble that comes out of Mourinho's gob on a weekly basis and will focus on the job at hand. Which is to dismantle a resurgent Spurs side, who will be out to take revenge for their CL's final loss and gain an early lead in the EPL title race.

With a couple of results going our way overnight: Wolves taking a last second victory over Chelsea and WBA holding Man City to a 1-1 draw, this game is even bigger. It could be argued it's not a must win game but a must not lose game, as a draw allows us to stay joint leaders and adds another point buffer to the teams below. However a win would be just what the Doctor ordered to rejuvenate the lads who appear to be flagging a little at the moment.

During Klopp's press conference he had this to say about our injured players and who may be back. Matip is still a possibility but it's too soon to be certain. After participating in a light training session Naby Keita is also a possibility but there are no other players from the injury list being considered for the Spurs game.

Although this is not a must win match it is one of our toughest fixtures over the Christmas period so I wouldn't be too upset if Klopp rushed Matip back then rested him for the next game or three. With this in mind I predict the following line-up:

Alisson, TAA, Matip, Fab, Robbo, Hendo, Gini, Jones, Salah, Mane, Bobby.

Kelleher, Phillips, Taki, Neco, Ox, Origi, Naby.

I wouldn't be adverse to swapping Gini and Ox around, although if Matip is not fit Hendo might move back to pair with Fab and Ox be brought into midfield.

Liverbird's scorecast: Although win lose or draw we celebrate the life of Gerard Houllier, it would sure be nice to get the win. Our lads will do him proud tonight no matter what but let's try for a 4-0.
