Manchester City v Liverpool FC l Live fans match thread!

Battle for best of Britain looms large as the mighty red army travel to the always baron oil lands of Etihad Stadium to face the current front runners (according to the bookies) to take this season's title.

After our midweek domination in Europe it will be interesting to see who Klopp gives the nod to on Sunday, as the two remaining power houses of English football go head to head.

Before we look at our own ins and outs let’s have a quick squiz at the Manchester City team.

The possible 'big' name players missing for Man City are Aguero with a hamstring, Foulandinho with a leg injury (they should really just amputate for everyone’s safety) and Mendy who has an undisclosed muscle strain.

Even with those star players out they possess a real threat going forward with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne (wish he'd hurry up and sign his LFC contract already), Bernardo Silva, their new boy Torres - a cheap impression of the real Torres - and of course thumb sucker Sterling.

Like most teams this season, City have been vulnerable along their back-line but with the return of Laporte it appears that area has become steadier. Born out by a 3-0 victory over Olympiacos.

That’s way too much time on such an irrelevant entity, so back to what matters - Liverpool F.C.

With a nice four and a half day break between games and some of our new faces putting in outstanding performances, sorry my inner Rogers came out there, Klopp has some tough decisions to make ahead of Sunday's clash.

Let's see if the Gaffa provides any clues.

Sounds much as expected but we know Jurgen loves to throw curve balls in the big games. Based on what we know though let's consider the options.

Can we thwart City's attack?

Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams are battling to fill the large void left by Van Dijk and so far making a good fist of it, but with Matip back in full training who should start alongside Joe Gomez?

How about our Midfield?

Thiago still hasn't returned to training since the disgraceful tackle on him during our derby draw. Naby Keita however is back in the picture after playing some valuable minutes against Atalanta.

Jones also gained valuable pitch time, playing simple football he made an assist but is still to set the world alight. Granted it will be difficult to stand out with so many superstars around him.

The biggest question just as in our previous game is who will be the driving force upfront.

Jota is in the form of his life at the moment, but he did take a knock before exiting the field on Tuesday night. In complete contrast Firmino is probably in one of the biggest slumps of his career.

Salah and Mane both played all 90 minutes against Atalanta so may need a rest. With Shaq and Mini-Mo available that's possible but against City seems unlikely to happen.

One thing to keep in mind before handing Klopp your preferred line-up is after Sunday's match there is a stupid 13-day international break before our next EPL match.

Seriously what is the point of these international matches especially during the current Covid climate. The people in charge need a good old fashioned flogging (Jay, my good friend your expertise is needed).

My preferred line-up: Alisson, TAA, Matip, Gomez, Robbo, Hendo, Gini, Bobby, Salah, Mane, Jota.

What I think Klopp will choose: Alisson, TAA, Matip, Gomez, Robbo, Hendo, Gini, Milner/Naby, Bobby, Salah, Mane.

What line-up would you like to see and how confident are you?

LiverBird's scorecast: it can only be, 0-4!
