Liverpool v Midtjylland | Champions League | Live fans match thread!

After a return to winning ways in the Premier League we have little time to rest before welcoming Dutch side FC Midtjylland to Anfield for their very first Champions League away match.

Having lost four nil at home to Atlanta, Midtjylland appear to be a relatively easy team for us to beat, especially at our own home. In Klopp's pre-match press conference however he takes time to sing their praises as a good footballing side.

As we know only too well, anything can happen in the Champions League and Klopp is right, we'll need to respect our opponent by keeping a high intensity and concentration. It would be fair though to suggest this might be a good game for us to rest some players.

Four days later we will face West Ham who have just beaten Leicester three nil and also put three past Tottenham in the game before that. I'd wager they will be tougher opponents than Midtjylland so it makes sense for our manager to have that in mind when he selects the line-up for this game.

Injury wise, Klopp says this match has likely come too early for Thiago, Matip and Keita so that narrows things down a bit. As far as I know Kostas remains unavailable too. Thank goodness we at least have Alisson back.

Factoring in availability and players we might wish to rest this would be my line-up.

This is a tricky one to select and I'm interested in other's thoughts. We have players like Neco Williams and Curtis Jones who could offer even further rest to the likes of Alexander-Arnold and Wijnaldum or even Henderson.

We could play Minamino and give Firmino a night off. The bottom line for me is this is a Champions League match and although Midtjylland should be beatable we want to make as certain of that as possible. We're currently joint top of our group and need to try and keep it that way.

Let's make sure of any comparatively easy points in this match to take some pressure of ourselves in the later more difficult fixtures.

Having said that, even though I've picked eleven senior players, I'm not 100% happy that our midfield is as dynamic as we'd wish and maybe there's a case to be made for playing one of our younger players in that respect. Or how about adding Shaqiri into the mix?

Would you try and rest more of our players or go as strong as possible to ensure the win.

Either which way, anything Atlanta can do, we can do better. Liverbird's scorecast for this one: 5-0!
