Liverpool v Leeds | Live fans match thread!

BOOM! The football's back! Yes indeed we are shortly to kick off our 2020/21 season opener against newly promoted Leeds and let's hope we do so with a thumping gert win.

Many fans are worried about our prospects this season. We have seen the likes of Chelsea and City strengthening their squads, while we've done little in comparison. In fact even Leeds have pushed the boat out in the transfer market. What none of them have just done however is win the Champions League, Club World Cup, Super Cup and what's that other one... THE PREMIER LEAGUE.

We won the aforementioned trophies with our current squad and although competition this season may be fiercer, I believe we'll still be right there in the mix, vying for more silverware. Other teams have new players but we have team spirit, experience and togetherness. Plus Jurgen deity Klopp.

Having said that, I understand and share some of the concerns expressed by my fellow fans. Ultimately it will be our results which reveal if those worries are founded. We all hope for the best and will do our part in cheering our lads on. The rest is in their hands/feet.

This season we have some new points of interest: Naby who will maybe stay fit; he's had a fantastic pre-season. Minamino who seems now to know, the way to the net and our young lads most notably Williams and Jones, who look set to have their progress met with places in our senior squad.

Contrary to those plus points, we wonder if just three senior centre backs, are enough to do more than just bluff. If called upon will Adrian muster more than just fluster and will Mane, Mo and Bobby Firmino, shoot for a boot made of gold.

Potentially helpful toward these things, in pre-season the use of a 4-2-3-1 versus our more normally played 4-3-3 was trialled, allowing us to add Minamino into attack giving more potency. I expect to see this more often and hope it's how we line up against Leeds at Anfield.

Until Jurgen's presser we can't be sure about injuries but Trent played for England so I suspect he may take part against Leeds and also at this point am guessing Henderson remains sidelined. Not sure if Jurgen will go his own way but I've suggested he consider the following.

In signing off, I'd like to wish everyone the best and hope people and their nearest and dearest are staying safe and well throughout what are challenging times and also hope the returning football will provide some welcome escapism.

Now, fellow Reds, it's time to go again. There are legitimate doubts regards our squad strength but we never do things the easy way and I firmly believe us fans make the difference so let's give it our all - ramp our belief back up and see where it takes us.

Maybe, just maybe, with enough lucky weeing, lucky walking, lucky mugs, lucky underpants and all our other charms, it will work out and we will win our lovely Lady another title x

There will be prizes this season. Hopefully by way of LFC sponsor generosity but if not I'm happy to foot the bill. Although we're talking along the lines of scarf and sweat bands. Nevertheless you'll be in it to win it - some memorabilia from the 2020/21 season so make sure you're at the top of your game!
