Liverpool already have the striker many fans yearn for

What if I told you for the 2020/21 season we have a brand new superstar striker and that he's already at our club. Not an attacking mid or winger adapted to a striker but rather a full bore centre forward. Who is this mystery person? Well it's none other than Divock Okoth Origi.

Clear your minds of all preconceptions because as I will prove in this article we, and I fully include myself, have been too harsh in our judgements of the young Belgium supremo and for one very simple reason - we're judging him as a striker when he ever increasingly plays as a winger!

Since joining Liverpool in 2014 Origi has played as a right winger 9 times, netting 2 goals and 1 assist, been used as a left winger 35 times, scoring 7 and providing 3 assists and played in his preferred position of centre forward 115 times where he bagged 33 goals and created 12 assists.

For a player who mostly enters the affray off of the bench, 45 key contributions of either a goal or assist from 115 games played as a striker is not a bad return. In fact if Salah, Mane and Firmino were yielding these kinds of figures on a regular basis we'd be winning every game four nil.

During pre-season we've seen hints toward a possible change of formation from 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1. While we likely won't use the latter all the time it certainly seems that with Minamino's improved form and a fit Keita it's an option we'll switch to as and when merited.

In a 4-2-3-1 there's no reason Origi can't be fielded in his best position - striker! and if so, as shown above we can expect either a goal or assist in near enough every one out of two games played. Imagine if we had of signed Werner, one of the most highly regarded strikers around, I think we'd have been very happy indeed with that sort of return.

In closing, I put it to you good people that we already have a brilliant centre forward, who when played as one will display the natural eye for goal we often lack and as final evidence invite you to enjoy the following exhibit.

Edit: Late addition to the case, above video doesn't show all of Origi's goals as claimed so here's another clip for your consideration.
