Jota has arrived

Fans were crying, rolling on the floor in a fit of rage, kicking and screaming about our beloved club's lack of vision and transfer activity. Skip forward three days and rejoices were being sung from the top of cathedrals as Klopp and Edwards had done their magic and brought two players in a short period of time. Thiago we all knew about as that transfer had been bouncing around the media for months (oh my what a signing he's turned out to be - after only 45 minutes of game time he's already broken the passing record in the EPL), but then a sneak attack and BOOM Diogo Jota is also an LFC player.

Might be a little late to the party so will keep this short and provide a few background details on our new Portuguese forward. His preferred position is LW but he can play down the middle as well, therefore able to provide stiffer competition across our front line than they are currently used to.

The 23 year old has been in the English league since 2017/18 season plying his trade at Wolves. Starting down in the Championship Division before they worked their way up into the EPL and Europa competitions. During this time he played 131 games scoring 44 goals and creating 19 assists, to amass a goal/assist rate of one every 148 minutes. Imagine how good those numbers can be with the likes of VVD, Thiago, Hendo, well almost any of our players providing world class through balls.

For me the stat that stands out the most is his injury record, since moving to England Jota has been injured for a total of just 18 days. This particular injury occurred in the 2018/19 season when he pulled a hamstring, but once recovered Jota has not missed a single game due to injury since. Fingers crossed some of his steeliness rubs off onto several of our lads, and not the other way around.

We got our first glimpse of Jota in a LFC shirt (granted it was that bed sheet they're calling our away strip) during the 2nd half of our EFL Cup match against Lincoln. Considering the lack of time with his team members Jota presented well and got involved as much as he could, even providing a glimpse of his skill level with a lovely turn on the edge of the box to get a shot away that narrowly went wide.
