Liverpool v Arsenal | Live fans match thread!

Next team to face the Liverpool juggernaut is a rejuvenated Gunners squad who are currently unbeaten this season. The majority of our first team players should be well rested as our impressive 7-2 victory over Lincoln F.C. mid-week was compiled mainly of fringe players with one or two of our starting eleven playing just forty-five minutes.

Liverpool and Arsenal have faced each other 230 times over the years with honours being extremely close. We've won 89 times since taking a 5-0 victory in our first ever meeting during the 1893 League Division 2. The Gunners were then known as Woolwich Arsenal due to their founding by Woolwich munitions workers - hence their 'Gunners' nickname. They'd also before been called Royal Arsenal and originally named Dial Square. The names changing each time they moved location.

The Gunner’s have managed to steal 80 victories from us during that period, as well as 61 draws. With both teams having world class attacking abilities this should be another sizzling encounter.

Arsenal will more than likely start their favoured 3-4-3 line-up with David Luiz in their back line. Well if he starts and with Salah’s current menacing form it should provide a few highlight reels. Arsenal's biggest threat comes in the form of Aubameyang who scored a top goal against us in the Charity Shield, let’s hope Trent doesn’t allow him as much room as Neco did that day. The other player to watch out for is ex-Chelsea star Willian who seems to have found his mojo again - Robbo is going to have his hands full down that left flank.

For our own players, the biggest worry is who is going to partner the colossus VVD. Matip is still injured, now ruled out until at least after the international break and although Gomez returned to training on Friday he is no means a certainty to take part.

Henderson came off in the 2nd half of last weekend's match due to a possible muscle strain and is still not back in training, therefore no chance to make the squad for this one and Klopp has not provided any further information on a possible return for our skipper.

Ox is still out with a knee injury, return date unknown.

Last time out we kept a clean sheet but that was against a ten man Chelsea, in other recent games however we've been a little lacking in defensive awareness and missing in plain good old defending abilities. Hopefully over the past couple of weeks the lads have sat down together and come up with ideas in how to shore things up at the back - plug the holes they've been leaving for the opposition to score so easily and return to our older imperious selves.

For our line-up I am going to try and be positive and hope that Gomez is available.

Alisson, Robbo, VVD, Gomez, TAA, Thiago, Gini, Naby, Mane, Bobby, Salah

Subs: Adrian, Fab, Tsimikas, Jota, Milner, MiniMo, Origi (I hope it’s Jones instead).

And airing on the optimistic but also realistic, Liver Bird's scorecast for this match, nil four!
