Arsenal v The Champions | FA Community Shield

Nil chuffin Four! You heard it here first, that will be the scoreline and this time we'll not be missing out 5-4 on penalties as we did to City in 2019 but rather the trophy shield will be coming home to Anfield. It's time to go again, so let's start the 2020/21 season as we mean to go on.

This will be our (winning) team:

Alisson, Robertson, VVD, Gomez, Alexander-Arnold (if passed fit), Fabinho, Keita, Milner, Mane and Mo, Bobby Firmino

Later in the game Jones will come on for Milly and Williams for Trent, if Trent starts that is, if not Williams starts at RB instead. New boy Tsimikas will later be brought on for Robbo and grab an assist via Brewster - subbed on to score our fourth.

Sadly, Henderson, Shaq, Matip, Origi and Ox are not match ready but making good progress and will hopefully be back in training soon. Also sadly, some of our players who are fit will be leaving for international duty after this match but hopefully they'll survive unscathed.

Arsenal, who coincidentally have won the Community Shield fifteen times the same as us, joint second overall to.... Utd, grrrrr, have not been playing pre-season matches, in fact their team has only just returned to training and manager Mikel Arteta is quoted as saying they look a little rusty. Could be sandbagging but either way it will be nil four.

For us to win in such emphatic manor we'll need our recent uncharacteristically shaky defence to sort themselves out because Aubameyang, Lacazette and Wright won't be shy in coming forward. Thankfully at the opposite end Sideshow Bob will be his usual calamitous self, setting the tone for the rest of their defence, who we know don't need much encouragement toward headless chickenery.

A perfect game and time for our younger players to shine ahead of what's shaping up to be a breakthrough season for them. For Mo and Co to show they're ready and raring to go, and our midfield and defence to display similar.

This fixture has all the ingredients of an exciting end to end game and it's difficult to see how there won't be a boat load of goals, so my backup prediction is 0-0, extra time and pens.

Let's have a listen to the Gaffa and then if you'd be so kind as to post your own pre-match thoughts and predictions that would be rather splendiferous.

Let's do this!

Prediction shenanigans
Will Salah score?
Will Mane score?
Will Firmino score?
Will Brewster score?
Final score?
