Villa v Liverpool | Carabao Cup quarter final

An exciting few days about to dawn as we split our squad into two teams, with the more senior version already in Qatar preparing for our Club World Cup semi final against Monterrey, on Wednesday. First though accompanying manager Jurgen Klopp will gather them around a televisual device to watch our U23's coach Neil Critchley take charge of a more youthful LFC eleven and try to have them shellac Villa, in the Carabao Cup quarter final, on Tuesday.

Now I've explained that in a succinct manor which won't have confused everyone, I can provide what I believe may be our starting eleven for the first of the two games. I've held this belief, quite strongly actually, since seeing it in this BBC article.

Try as I might I can't fault the BBC's endeavours other than to say it's unlikely Brewster will play because he's been ruled out with an ankle injury. So take Rooster out, add Kevin Stewart in and Bob's somebody's mother's brother.

Not the most prestigious of cups this one but I hope we give it a damn good go and try our best to win it. The more trophies the merrier and it would do our young players no end of good to progress. They'll be absolutely buzzing and chomping at the bit to showcase their skills to not only their regular coach but they'll surely know Klopp is watching on as well.

On that last note, Critchley says in the below presser that a plane is on standby to take any star performers out to Qatar as they may yet also be included in that squad. A massive incentive for them to perform to their absolute best and I'm excited to see how they fare.

Predicted scoreline: 0-4
