With no Jock, the master of the Player Ratings I’ll give it a go and await the down votes. The game was highly enjoyable and it was highly pleasing to see four goals. The lack of a clean sheet is yet again a frustration which we need to sort out sooner rather than later.

Alisson - (90 mins) Over the whole game didn’t have too much to do. Made a view important saves in the first half, and had very little chance with the goal. The defence looked more settled with him back in between the sticks. (7.5)

Milner - (90 mins) Is everything you’d want from a Captain. Some great tracking back, with a shooting opportunity in the first half being prevented. As per usual plays full back as if that’s his main position. Great support and distribution meant that Trent wasn’t missed. (8)

Robertson - (63 mins) Off the pace compared to his usual high tempo style of play, with many of Genks attacks coming down his flank. Hopefully fresh for the weekend after being substituted. (6)

Lovren - (90 mins) Was exposed several times with runs behind him which is in some ways to be expected given his lack of game time and age, was clearly a target for Genk. His indecision near the end of the game was also the reason for us not getting a much needed clean sheet. (5)

VVD - (90 mins) Clearly feels more comfortable with Alisson behind him. Was beaten several times in the air, but then again he was being challenged by a beast of a player. Not as commanding but always calm. (7)

OX - (74 mins) His best game since his return from injury with 2 fine goals, the 2nd an absolute beauty. Gives a different dimension to our midfield. Pity he didn’t get a hat trick but looking good moving forward. (8.5)

Keita - (90 mins) One of his best games for us and great to see him get a full game. Worked hard for the team, both in attack and defence. Needs to toughen up but promising signs. (7.5)

Fabinho - (90 mins) Makes the game look very easy with a good assist for our first game. One of the first names on the team sheet. Wasn’t too busy but allows the other midfielders to push forward. (7.5)

Mane - (90 mins) Due to the high standards he’s set this season it looked like he was not as effective, but a goal and an assist contradicts that. Always looking for the ball and makes defenders nervy. (7.5)

Salah - (90 mins) What can I say that hasn’t been said a thousand times. Clearly things are not flowing for Salah, but what I like is that he doesn’t shy away, worked hard and was trying the right things, even though all too often his passes were intercepted. Was rewarded though with a goal and an assist which isn’t too shabby. (7)

Firmino - (80 mins) Probably should have been awarded a penalty after being bundled over from a cross, but as usual he makes us tick. Some of his touches and flicks were beautiful. Doesn’t get the goals but is vital to our success. (8)

Subs:

Origi (10 mins) Did nothing of note, neither good or bad. Was given the chance to say hello to the locals but they’d have hardly noticed. (5)

Wijnaldum - (16 mins) Was brought on to provide fresh legs and allow The Ox his moment in the sun. Had an opportunity to get on the score-sheet which he didn’t take. (6)

Gomez - (27 mins) Looks off the pace from how he was playing last season before his injury, and doesn’t look like we’ll see the best of him until next year. Gave away a needless yellow card. (5.5)
