Chelsea v League Leaders Liverpool - preview

Article by Jock and JudgeD

Let's try this new format. Jock and Judge have posted some very fine points regards our upcoming match with Chelsea, so I've put them into article form. I will normally add a bit more and a line-up graphic but am knocking this one out (no Jay) in a hurry.

Jock says:

Personally I don’t think Chelsea will be able to live with us. The young lad Tammy Abraham up front looks a decent player and he’s scored a few but I expect Virgil and Matip to totally dominate them. Willian and Pedro we know about but they are both players in decline in my opinion.

The big midfield question is if Kante will be fit. They’re a different proposition with him in the team. Jorginho is a silky player but isn’t up for the kind of fight Hendo will bring his way. Mason Mount who has been playing well for them, went off injured in their Champions League game.

Defensively it depends if they go three at the back or four. CB wise I think they’re really weak, especially if Rudiger isn’t fit. Christensen and Zouma are definitely exploitable. If they play three, they’ll play Alonso at LWB who is a good crosser and has a goal in him - was brilliant in Conte’s first season but gone off the boil a bit since. If they play four it will be the young lad Tomori at LB who I haven’t seen much of but scored a worldie last week. He’s young and raw to be up against Salah though. Azpilicueta on the other side is a really good defender but will struggle with Mane’s pace.

Can’t see anything but a win for us

And in reply this is JudgeD's take:

Thinking pretty much the same. Chelsea are in transition with some good young players coming through but some established stars past their peak, and nobody to replace Hazard, maybe Pulisic in the future but certainly not now.

Guessing they'll go with a back four to cater for our fullbacks bombing forward, or maybe a full back five if they decide to park up and try not to concede and play on the counter.

They've got good potential and they surprised lots of people in the Super Cup but I think if we perform as we have been we'll have too much for them and could bag a few goals against that defence: 11 goals conceded in the 5 games so far.

If Mane, Firmino and Salah all play, I quite fancy each of them to score in this one.

Is it Sunday yet?!

What do you think folks. J&J are largely in agreement but are they right? My take on the matter is this:

Let's hear your line-ups and thoughts on tomorrow's game. First though here are Jurgen's.
