Liverpool sign Bruno Fernandes (terms and conditions may apply)

Article by Liver Bird Spotting

That’s right the long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed ‘Liverpool sign Nicolas Pepe’ is here with the LBN exclusive that Bruno Fernandes has reportedly joined Liverpool according to reported understandings by the Echo’s reported source, who reportedly understands that this may be true. In all seriousness, news has recently come out from James Pearce that we are STILL open to one more signing this summer, which leads me to believe it is a long running behind closed doors saga. The rhetoric from Klopp all summer seems to indicate that we haven’t ruled out a major signing, but it is dependant on factors outside of our control.

Enter Bruno Fernandes. The Sporting attacker sportingly remained at Sporting last season despite their training ground attack which lead to most players abandoning the club. He went on to have an amazing season, and understandably during this silly season he has been linked to a plethora of Europe’s top clubs, but the Premier League seems to be his preference. United have been heavily linked by the Portuguese press throughout the summer, but it’s all smoke and mirrors, Spurs were linked to scare Betis into letting Lo Celso go, Arsenal aren’t signing another attacker, Chelsea are banned, and he’s already rejected City. That leaves us as the only top six Premier League side left.

Fekir

Why would we be interested you ask? We wanted Fekir last summer, but ultimately the transfer fell through. We do our transfer planning two years in advance, and Fekir seemed to be the prime attacking target. Bruno is a similar player. I’m sure he was being weighed up against Fekir. Now we ultimately went in for Fekir of course, perhaps because Bruno wanted to stick with Sporting during difficult times, or Fekir was simply the better option. We didn’t get Fekir, and Bruno has had his best season for Sporting. Why not sign him now?

Sporting saw the price, rivals Benfica, got for Felix and have held out to get a decent fee, so they don’t look weak next to them. They’ve used the press and United to scare us into upping the ante, but Edwards sticks to his guns. With Bruno still not getting any concrete offers, and the window close to shutting will they cave in or will the increasingly likely sale of Kent and Wilson give us the financial capability and squad capacity to increase our offer. Surely, they’re not going to block a move for the player that single-handedly kept them afloat in their hour of need?

Of course, there’s no guarantees of anything here being true, and it could all just fit together well, but the purpose of this article is to excite folks for the last days of the windows and put TLBN on the map if (when) he signs.
