Liverpool's centre back conundrum - possible new signing?

Article by Shaun.

With there recently having been much talk on our boards as to whether we need to sign a new centre back during this winter window, Shaun has just posted the following news:

"We're being linked with a player called Eder MIlitao, a 20 year old CB from FC Porto and apparently prefers a move to England and is reported of having a release clause around £40m.

Does anyone know much about him?

I like the idea of a young CB instead of the liability and injury prone Lovren, worried that we may need a more experienced player than that at the moment, although we have seen Klopp bring through and improve quality young defenders."

I think if we are to conduct any transfer business this January then it's likely to be in defence, do others agree with this? That said also the possibility of signing Adrien Rabiot on the cheap would be very welcome in my view.

Anyways here is a little detail about Miliato: Brazilian media UOL have claimed that Liverpool are among other Premier Clubs interested in signing him. Those other Clubs are Utd and Everton so there is no competition for us there, although Real are also apparently interested as well.

Miliato is 20 years old and although he can also play at right back, which could be very handy for us at present, he prefers to play in central defence.  He is 1.86m tall, has played for Brazil's national side and has a current market value of €35million.

Interestingly from 19 appearances this season, 14 in Portugal's Primeira Liga and 5 in the Champions League, he has scored two goals and made two assists. Both the assists were in league games but the two goals were split between champions and domestic league.

Although us signing anyone at all in this window seems unlikely, perhaps the current spate of injuries may prompt a change of mind and so what do folks think - Eder Miliato - yay or nay?
