League Leaders Liverpool v Crystal Palace

Next up for the League Leaders it's Crystal Palace who started life at the site of the original Crystal Palace Great Exhibition Building before moving to their current home at Selhurst Park just along the road from where I used to live in Anerley SE20.
Crystal Palace narrowly avoided being another one of David Cameron's clubs (he has more clubs than Rory McIlroy) by changing their club colours from claret and blue to red and blue in 1973. By way of explanation David Cameron originally claimed to support Aston Villa but then in a speech urged people to support West Ham and the only connection would seem to be the clubs' colours of claret and blue.

They were originally known as "The Glaziers" and yes you've guessed it their mascot was an old man in overalls who smelt of putty. Realising that would not work in the modern game they followed a well  trodden ornithological path and changed their name to "The Eagles"  with an eagle as their mascot..  It strikes #metoo that, although football is clearly no place for birds, these days an awful lot of them are sneaking into matches as mascots.

I am not sure she should be putting her arm round him uninvited like that……

Now turning to the "League Leaders". What team are the "League Leaders" going to field? I think the "League Leaders" will go with Alisson, Milner, Fabinho, VVD, Robbo, Gini, Hendo, Shaq, Mane, Firmino, Salah.  I am also picking the "League Leaders" to win 3-0.

When asked about whether he was looking forward to hearing the "League Leaders" fans singing YNWA Roy Hodgson, standing pitch side, said yes he was hoping to hear a "right royal rip roaring rendition". The groundsman has since cancelled plans to water the pitch...….

Off topic:  Following the introduction of a law against "upskirting" and in the interests of equality Jock is now campaigning for a similar law in Scotland against "upkilting".  A Scottish Government spokeswoman said, although she recognised that "jocks law" was important to him, it really was quite a small thing. Jock said it was due to the recent spell of cold weather.
