Liverpool to bolster defence in January?

Transfer news: Liverpool look to France for defensive reinforcements this winter

Morning all, a little bit of transfer news for you to consider as we take in our new position atop the EPL. It's being reported by various sources, including the Express, that following the injury to Joe Gomez which will see him unavailable for the busy Christmas and New Year period, Jurgen Klopp is considering bringing in some defensive back up.

As originally reported by Tuttosport, Liverpool are targeting Toulouse player Jean-Clair Todibo. United and Juventus are also known to be interested and so should we pursue this deal we would only have the one Club to compete against.

Jean-Clair-Todibo-makes-tackle

Although our defence is already the best in the Premier League, now that Gomez is out, in VVD, Lovren and Matip we only have three centre back options and while players such as Milner could also be called upon to fill in, it does seem feasible that we may seek to strengthen this area in January.

Jean-Clair Todibo is only eighteen but playing superbly this season in Toulouse's defence and is apparently ahead of his age in terms of game intelligence. He's made two appearances for France's U20's team and in ten games for Toulouse this season has helped them keep two clean sheets, plus also chipped in with a goal and an assist. Todibo can play in both defence and midfield and as it seems increasingly important for players to have multiple positions in their repertoire, that will likely add to his appeal.

Some further info: Todibo is 1.89m tall, or just over 6ft in proper measurements. His main position is centre back but he can also play defensive and central midfield roles. He's a right footer who's main strengths are said to be tackling, which is handy for a defender, and also dribbling is something he excels at. He's a good passer as well but on the weaknesses side: he commits too many fouls and his concentration apparently isn't the best. Yikes.

Jurgen could surely address those minor issues though and at a current market value of just £3.6 million, Todibo could be a veritable bargain. Although with Juventus also in the running I'm sure that market value would/will rise substantially. Nevertheless, the young Frenchman does look a very good and exciting young player who's perhaps worthy of our interest this January.

Unfortunately this was the only clip I could find of him but I think you'll agree it's enough to merit a bid of at least £5.0million!
