Liverpool Football Club Foundation

YNWA, do LFC just talk the talk or do they walk the walk? We hear tag lines like ‘This Means More’, but really is it only a sound bite that means nothing?

Being part of LFC means being part of a great football family, but what do LFC do behind the scenes to promote this ethos.

The LFC Foundation is the official charity of Liverpool Football Club. It was formulated in 2010 to continue to build on the Club’s great work in the community for the past 20 years. The Foundation is a financial independent organisation that contributes to helping both children and young people in Merseyside. The charity delivers a wide range of initiatives and activities that engage over 21 000 individuals every year. Last year the Foundation filled 125 000 places on their programmes in the Liverpool City Region. The six step plan outlines how the charity works:

  • Work with Liverpool Football Club to unlock the power of the Club crest.
  • Engage with children and young people in Merseyside and beyond.
  • Improve the health and well-being of children through sports participation and physical activity and raise the aspirations and skills of young people for a better life, through learning and training programmes.
  • Engage stakeholders and supporters to inspire action towards a tangible movement of fan-driven change.
  • Communicate the impacts we make and celebrate the success of young people we work with.
  • Operate transparently honestly and with the strong governance to ensure impacts are maximised.

The LFC Foundation helps make the biggest difference possible to the lives of those in need of support. In addition to LFC’s programmes, they also work in partnership with three local charities and non-profit organisations.

The three partners are:

Alder Hey Children’s Charity, working in partnership with the Hospital to help develop safe and more effective treatments and medicines for children.

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, LSTM works to break the cycle of poor health and poverty through pioneering research.

University Of Liverpool & IntoUniversity, this partnership has been created to reach young people in the Anfield area who have limited interaction with higher education.

As a charity the LFC Foundation’s aim is to deliver sustainable change to address adverse causes and issues that impact children and young people. To role this out the Charity delivers in three impact areas and have developed individual messages to help guide the work.

Wellbeing - Living healthy and happy.

Skills - Achieving success in life.

Communities - Inspiring lives together.

You can view how these three impact areas work, with living examples on the website.

So the family of Liverpool Football Club can boast with validity ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.  Go to the LFC Foundation website at to find out more.
